Success - Elgin Avenue resurfacing underway!

Happiness = new tarmac

The long-awaited resurfacing of the top half of Elgin Avenue is thankfully close to being completed. Westminster Council's Transport Department has been working on this important project for the last couple of weeks, causing a number of adjacent roads to be closed while the surface is upgraded.

Before the works started we were active in lobbying to minimise the inconvenience caused to residents and local businesses. This included securing agreement to undertake the work in stages (rather than the original proposal to close all of the road for an entire week!) and lobbying to have parking spaces returned to use on a rolling-basis rather than at the end of the works.

During the recent election campaign, many residents – both on Elgin and throughout Maida Vale – commented on the bad state of repair of the road. We are very pleased to have been able to deliver on our promise to resurface Elgin Avenue.

Thanks to residents for their patience during the works!

Next target: Kilburn Park Road.
